Citing and Referencing

To make the References section of your extended essay, use the following for help. They will automatically generate you a reference, when you type in all the information of the source. Click the small link “manual entry mode” beneath the white box to fill in the form.

  • APA: for sciences. The publication year is included with the name of the cited author. The first person to publish something gets the credit! This is why the year is so important. It also helps you know how new or old the scientific knowledge is.
  • MLA: for languages. The page number is included with the name of the cited author. This is because in the languages you often take direct quotations from books. You almost never do that in the sciences.
